Here are a few simple home treatments that can help alleviate migraine pain and other types of headache.

  • Peppermint Oil – Few drops

Mix the two essential oils in a small bowl. Take some onto your palm and then slightly rub some blend on your forehead, temples and back of neck. If the smell of peppermint oil is too strong for you, dilute it down by mixing the essential oils with almond, grape seed or coconut oil.

 

2. Gluten-Free Diet

People with gluten sensitivity should not eat foods containing gluten as it can lead to a headache. According to the National Foundation for Celiac Awareness, patients who have migraine headaches often see either complete resolution of migraine headaches, or a significant reduction in the frequency and strength of symptoms after giving up gluten.

Gluten sensitivity often leads to a headache. If this is the case, you don’t have to cut out gluten completely – instead, try to cut back on your daily intake.

So start eliminating gluten for three weeks in your diet, then introduce foods containing gluten slowly. Do pay attention to the way you feel after gradually adding gluten to your diet and find your happy balance. Listen to your body – you will find out how much of a food group you can eat without triggering symptoms.

  • Organic Apple Cider Vinegar – 1 tablespoon
  • 1 Glass of Water

Mix the apple cider vinegar and honey in one glass of water and start taking it daily.  During migraine attacks or when you feel them coming on, you can increase your intake up to two or three tablespoons.

 

4. Ice Packs

  • You can also try alternating hot and cold compresses for about 15 minutes. For better results, add lavender and/or peppermint essential oils(few drops) to the water for the compress.
